Step 1 – Science

1 hands-on investigation from each of the four curriculum strands

  1. Living Things- Potato Power
  2. Energy and Forces- Hoist Away
  3. Materials- Get you Bearings
  4. Environmental Awareness- Pitfalls and Pooters

​Science Week

For Science week we held an Origami workshop. We worked with paper to make envelopes and cubes.



​Space Week

For Space Week, we studied the solar system and various planets using online resources such as; www.nasa.gov 
We took a virtual tour of our solar system using nineplanets.org/tour and listened/watched interviews with astronauts. 

Step 2 – Technology

2 or more examples of how the children used technology as part of their school work.

Step 3 - Engineering

 2 or more examples of how the children investigated engineering in class or in the local area by applying their STEM knowledge and skills 

Here are examples of how we engage with Engineering.

Step 4 - Maths

2 or more examples of how the children have applied their maths knowledge and skills in practical ways.

Below are photos of how we used Maths skills and knowledge as part of Science, Technology, Engineering and design.
  1. We developed a Maths trail and worked in groups to carry it out. 
  2. We planted seeds which have now began to sprout and flower.
  3. We made hot chocolate which required us to measure and count the ingredients.
  4. We took part in Maths week. We held a workshop using the IZAK9 cube and engaged in many other maths games and challenges throughout the week.

Step 5 – STEM Show and Tell

1 or more examples of how the children have presented and explained their STEM work to others

Here are examples of Stem Showcase:
  1. ​Presenting projects using Word Document.
  2. Hold a Science exhibition presenting and explaining the children's STEM work to the school community.

Inventors Group Projects 2nd and 3rd class 

The children in 2nd & 3rd class researched inventors and presented their projects in groups to the class.
Below are photographs of our science exhibition. The children researched and made their own STEM projects and presented them to the school community.
The children made rockets, catapults, Lego, windmills and much more. Others researched and presented science experiments.
